DIVISIONS ~ Logistics

MCS's intention to transfer the management of its Logistics operations in 2007 to Agility, Oman which is being created as a JV between our Parent Company WJ Towell and Public Warehousing Company from Kuwait, known as Agility Logistics.
 

Warehousing
MCS Central Logistics Warehouse contains around 5000 SKUs and holds around 4500 pallets of stock.
 

The temperature bands within this warehouse are:
•	Ambient
•	Temperature Controlled 20 to 25º
•	Cooled (for Confectionery) 15º
•	Chilled 2 to 5º
•	Frozen -20 to -26º

Transport
Matrah Cold Stores runs a fleet of temperature controlled vehicles. This fleet differs in size from 3 Ton to Prime Movers and Trailers. Several of the vehicles have tail lift capabilities. This fleet undertakes key account deliveries in the Greater Muscat area as well as delivery to the MCS sub depots in Salalah, Nizwa, Sohar, Muladha and Al Kamil. In addition to this, a number of vehicles also collect products from Dubai on a weekly basis. Matrah Cold Stores regularly undertakes third party distribution on its transport fleet.

ISO Accreditation
The Logistics Division achieved ISO 9002:1994 in December 2000. In October 2003, the accreditation has changed to ISO 9000:2000 Standard.

Training
All employees responsible for a Company vehicle are required to attend Safety Driving Courses. This has helped reduce the blameworthy accidents experienced by the Company. The accident ratio at 0.48 per 100,000 kms in 2006 compares favourably to the ratio of 0.67 accidents per 100,000 kms experienced in 2005. In addition the division also trains its staff in Good Warehousing Practices. Incorporated into this is Health and Safety at Work.
 

Personnel
The Logistics Division has an experienced team both logistically and with working in Oman. The current Omanisation within Logistics is in excess of 40%.
