MCFL ANNOUNCES MASAFI AS
OFFICIAL BEVERAGE
PARTNER
Muscat, December
2007:
The atmosphere is electric and football is in the hearts of children
all across the Sultanate
with the 2007
Muscat Community
Football League set to
kick off. With a record
number of participants,
the competition now
boasts Masafi mineral
water as its official
“beverage partner”, and
promises to be a
spectacular
demonstration of the
spirit of the sport here
in Muscat.
Dieter Skaloud member of the MCFL organising committee said: “This year
we are seeing real
enthusiasm sky rocket
for the game, as we
currently have over 380
participants taking part
in the tournament.”
Divided into 25 teams, the players are grouped only by age and not by
gender or nationality.
This opens up a whole
new world of competition
as girls and boys battle
out on the pitch to
showcase their
individual strengths and
demonstrate their team
spirit. The Muscat
Community Football
League (MCFL) has
experienced growing
success in recent years,
with a marked increase
in participants, media
coverage and
sponsorship.
“The league is a melting pot of nationalities, and there is a real
desire for a lot of our
players to prove their
skills against some
serious competition,
regardless of gender.”
adds Claudio Barrio,
speaking on behalf of
the MCFL organising
committee.
This season Masafi mineral water is proud to be the official beverage
partner of this event,
highlighting the brand’s
focus on social
commitment. Dominic
Myers, CEO of Matrah
Cold Stores Operating
Companies
said: “ We are
proud to be supplying
Masafi to all of the
teams throughout the
MCFL season and to be
sponsoring one of the
teams. With Masafi we
will be replenishing the
thirst of our kids
throughout the
competition and keeping
them well hydrated for
fierce competition!”
15% of this season’s participants are Omani youth, and of the 380 youth
taking part in the
league, 40 are girls.
This is a true
indication that the
spirit of football is
well and truly alive in
Oman.
“As a mixture of social and competitive spirit, this is a major event
with a growing following
within the Sultanate,
and Oman is currently on
the map as far as
football is concerned!”
says Suleiman Al Zakwani,
referring to the recent
international success of
Omani football stars
like Ali Al Habsi and
the players on the Oman
National Football Team.
The Muscat Community Football League should serve as a demonstration
that with our support
the future is bright for
the next generation of
footballers here within
the Sultanate.
